About the 10th Cavalry Regiment
The 10th Cavalry Regiment stands as one of the original "Buffalo Soldier" regiments formed in the post-Civil War Regular Army. This segregated African-American unit distinguished itself through valor and determination across multiple conflicts—from the Indian Wars in the western United States to the Spanish–American War in Cuba, the Philippine–American War, and the Mexican Revolution. Though trained as a combat unit, the regiment served in non-combat capacity during World War II until its deactivation in 1944, leaving behind a legacy of courage that continues to inspire.
