Unit Heritage
The 4th Missile Battalion, 41st Artillery Regiment was activated on 14 January 1963 at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, with four Pershing 1 missiles. The battalion deployed to Schwäbisch Gmünd, West Germany in 1964 under the 56th Artillery Group, garrisoned at Hardt and Bismark Kasernes. The battalion increased to six launchers in 1964 and to eight launchers in 1965, exchanging Pershing 1 missiles for 36 Pershing 1a missiles in 1969.
