The 12th Infantry Regiment is a storied unit of the United States Army with a combat record spanning from the Civil War to the War in Afghanistan. The regiment has been awarded four Presidential Unit Citations, six Valorous Unit Awards, a Joint Meritorious Unit Award, and the Belgian Fourragere. In 2021, both 1st and 2nd Battalions reorganized as Stryker Battalions under 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, and completed a rotation to the Republic of Korea in 2023-2024.
