It was ordered into active Federal service on 1 May 1951 during the \u003c\/span\u003e\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Korean_War\" title=\"Korean War\"\u003eKorean War\u003c\/a\u003e\u003cspan\u003e but did not go overseas. The battalion became the 201st Engineer Battalion on 8 June 1953 and the company was released from active duty and reverted to state control on 30 March 1955. On 1 October 1959, it was redesignated as the Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the \u003c\/span\u003e\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=123rd_Armor_Regiment\u0026amp;action=edit\u0026amp;redlink=1\" class=\"new\" title=\"123rd Armor Regiment (page does not exist)\"\u003e123rd Armor\u003c\/a\u003e\u003cspan\u003e's 2nd Medium Tank Battalion.
